Overview

When e& set out to attempt a world record skydive over Dubai, the objective was not simply to document the event. The goal was to create a cinematic brand film that captured the scale, the preparation, the human story and the magnitude of what was about to happen in the sky above one of the most recognisable cities in the world.

LP Films was commissioned to produce a film that followed the team from ground to air, building a narrative that showed not only the record attempt itself, but the discipline, focus and emotion behind it.

This was a production that moved between interviews, training, preparation, aircraft operations and an aerial sequence over Palm Jumeirah and the Dubai coastline. Every part of the process needed to feel cohesive, immersive and visually striking.

The Creative Approach

Rather than starting in the sky, the film begins on the ground.

The story opens with reflection and anticipation. Quiet moments overlooking the city at night. Conversations. Thoughts before the challenge. This allowed the audience to connect with the people behind the jump before seeing the spectacle of the skydive itself.

From there, the narrative moves through preparation. Packing gear. Training. Suiting up. Moments of stillness before intensity. This pacing was essential to make the final jump feel earned rather than simply impressive.

The Production Approach

The film moved between night sequences at Skydive Dubai, sunrise training fields, controlled interview setups, aircraft interiors and the skydive above Palm Jumeirah. Each environment had a distinct visual tone, but the final piece needed to feel seamless and cinematic throughout.

All of the night scenes were shot within the Skydive Dubai location. Rather than moving across the city, we focused on using one environment creatively to create multiple visual moods and perspectives.

We used ARRI Signature Primes with Sony cinema cameras to create a refined cinematic look for interviews and preparation scenes while remaining agile inside the aircraft and on the ground.

For the interior and night sequences, full lighting setups were built rather than relying on available light. This allowed the quieter moments to carry the same visual weight as the aerial sequences.

The result is a film that feels visually intentional from ground to sky without ever feeling staged.

Building Tension Before the Jump

A key part of the storytelling was allowing the audience to feel the build up.

Moments inside the aircraft. Helmets on. Goggles down. Silence before the door opens. Tight framing and natural light inside the plane created an intimate perspective before the scale of Dubai opens up beneath them.

These quieter sequences made the aerial portion of the film far more powerful.

The Skydive Over Dubai

The world record attempt unfolds above Palm Jumeirah and the Dubai coastline, creating one of the most visually recognisable backdrops possible.

Wide aerial perspectives show the geometry of the city from above, while closer shots maintain a human connection to the team as they descend. The contrast between scale and intimacy is what gives this section of the film its impact.

This is where the preparation, tension and story converge into a single cinematic moment.

Interview Narrative

The film is anchored by a single interview that runs throughout the piece, guiding the viewer through the emotional and mental journey behind the attempt.

Rather than feeling like a documentary insert, the interview acts as a narrative thread, weaving through the preparation, the flight and the jump itself.

This approach kept the film grounded in story rather than spectacle.

Interview Led Narrative

The entire film is guided by a single interview with a senior member of the unit. Rather than cutting back to interviews repeatedly, the voice carries the story while the visuals place the viewer inside real environments.

This keeps the film immersive and story driven rather than explanatory.

The Result

The final film delivered a powerful brand story for e& that went far beyond documenting a record attempt.

It showcased:

  • Human focus and discipline

  • The scale of the challenge

  • The visual power of Dubai as a backdrop

  • A seamless blend of cinematic storytelling and real world action

For LP Films, this project demonstrated how careful narrative structure, visual control and production planning can turn an extreme live event into a cohesive and emotionally engaging brand film.
